Farrell Rules Big Wisconsin Races
Milwaukee, WI - Jamie Farrell of New Prague, MN proved his skills by posting wins in both the Road America and Milwaukee Mile Mid-Am Super Truck races. The two races are the largest tracks on the 2004 schedule. Farrell faced stiff competition in both races and had to overcome starting positions near the back. Farrell broke Dick Trickle's one-lap qualifying record at Road America the day before with a lap of 2:29.388 in a field of 31 cars and trucks. The Road America start had Farrell's super truck starting 11th on the grid as the lineup was partially inverted. Farrell moved through traffic during the 40 mile race to take the lead near the midway point and hold on for the win.
The Milwaukee Mile weekend was harassed by rain showers. Friday practice was clear but Friday night showers cleaned the track causing teams to readjust after one short practice session. Light rain during the day caused cancellation of practice as Milwaukee Mile staff readjusted Mid-Am and ASA schedules around the weather. The Super Truck lineup had Farrell starting near the back after qualifying was cancelled due to rain. The super trucks took to the track with rain drops on the windshields as heavy storms threatened. The Minnesota driver charged forward executing high speed passes as the top 10 Super Trucks raced in a group at speeds over 140 mph. Farrell worked his way to the front and kept up a fast pace to hold the position for the 2004 Milwaukee Mile win.
