Craftsman Truck Rookie Carl Edwards Wins World Cup.

Odessa, MO.  The I-70 Speeday World Cup was action packed from the start.  Pole Sitter Carl Edwards, currently 8th in Craftsman Truck points, and #2 qualifier Nate Bunnel got together on the first lap sending both drivers to pit lane and collecting nearly half the field in the crash.  Bunnell's truck was too damaged to continue but Edwards received only light body damage.  The race was restarted with Edwards near the back after pitting to check teh damage.  Edwards was able to dice through traffic in the 810 radio truck owned by Scott Traylor.  The trucks superior corner speed and power allowed Edwards to work his way past Damon Clevenger of Missouri and Brandon Jordan of Kansas for the win.  Brandon Jordon had 2nd place secured until a weight jack cup broke and collapsed part of his suspension.  Clevenger capitalized on the failure to take second.  John Vig Jr of Minnesota was very fast at the end of the race but his truck came on strong too late.

USST regulars Joe Madore and Eric Caudell were on hand but both encountered problems that kept them from challenging the leaders.  Madore experienced minor engine difficulties in the Eyecare/Chicago Rawhide Ford.  Caudell's RACINXS, Inc truck steering was damaged as he was collected in the first lap crash.  Caudell was able to struggle to a 6th place finish while Madore's loss of power held his well handling truck back at 8th.

SparrowFoot Fire and Safety was on hand with the Rapid Race Rescue fire trucks speeding many times to crash sites.  In one instance, the Sparrow Foot Safety Truck reached a multiple car crash 26 seconds faster that the track fire truck that got tied up in pit traffic due to blockage by race teams rushing to the accident.
